Unveiling

bettina Dance, Movement, Meditation, Life in Transition

I was touched this morning reading this beautiful poem by Mark Nepo. It reminds me how many layers of myself I have shed in the dance. How many pieces that I thought were ME I have let go off. It reminds me how guarded I was when I first started with the 5Rhythms practice… how I thought I had to be someone or somebody and do something special. This practice is really designed to deconstruct, to unveil what is hidden behind the masks of personality. And of course we don’t know what will surface when we take off a layer of ourselves. It is a mysterious discovery of who we are underneath the veil.

It is time to unglove yourself and find out…

Unglove Yourself

“We waste so much energy trying to cover up who we are
when beneath every attitude is the want to be loved
and beneath every anger is a wound to be healed
and beneath every sadness is the fear that there will not be enough time.
Our challenge each day is not to get dressed to face the world
but to unglove ourselves so that the door knob feels cold
and the car handle feels wet
and the kiss goodbye feels like the lips of another being
soft and unrepeatable.”
