Moving in times of change

bettina Dance, Movement, Meditation, Life in Transition

Recently in one of my workshops I asked the participants the following question: “How many of you are in a time of transition or major change in your life?” Everyone in the room raised their hands.

I am not sure if my little survey is representative of the bigger picture, but it showed me that many of us are experiencing subtle shifts, living with not-knowing and uncertainty or are undergoing big life changes that require flexibility and patience.

In the 5Rhythms movement practice we learn to trust ourselves, our bodies in motion, as we move through life – feet first. We rest in the moment, rather than struggle and anticipate the next step. When we accept the reality of change in our bodies, hearts and minds, we open ourselves to our more fluid, intuitive and deeper nature that is beyond concepts, systems and identities.

The 5Rhythms offer maps to our inner most being and break down the process how energy moves. Energy moves in waves, waves move in patterns. The 5Rhythms form a wave of energy and map how things naturally move and change.  And it never stops. Impermanence and change are inevitable. It is our choice if we embrace it and learn tools to ride the waves of life with ease and joy or if we hold on and cause ourselves to suffer.

Can we move fluidly like waves in the ocean with ebbs and flows?

“Once you awaken your intuition and get in the habit of listening to and acting on it, every decision in your life will become reflective of your inner truth. The trick is not to try to work out all the answers in your head. Rather, take whatever information you need into your body, trust your gut, then dance or meditate or walk or do whatever you need to enter a relaxed state of being and you’ll know what to do.”
