An exhilarating and liberating approach to the exploration of improvised movement that is authentic, inspired and catalytic. It is a workout for body and soul, a moving meditation, and a fun spiritual practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body, regardless of age, experience or condition.
One on One
In Bettina’s private sessions, attention is given to the individual needs of every client. It can involve an introduction to the 5Rhythms, a deepening of personal practice, the addressing of a special theme or part of life that requires attention or support during a life transition. Private sessions give the client an opportunity to learn practical tools and meditations for well-being and a soulful life. In this practice, movement is the medicine.
Bettina offers a safe and permissive space that allows for personal healing and self-discovery. In her work, she considers herself as a facilitator of healing and growth rather than a therapist. All of Bettina’s sessions incorporate the fields of psychology, somatic coaching and various movement arts with a specific focus on the powerful healing work of the 5Rhythms. Please contact Bettina her for an appointment.
Bettina teaches a variety of group programs including weekly classes, community events, workshops and retreats. Coming together and moving with others is an important part of the 5Rhythms approach. The learning always involves three levels of connecting: with oneself, with another, and with the group. If we practice in a community of supportive, like-minded people, meditation and self-discovery suddenly become joyful and fun.
Bettina is also available for private group bookings, conferences and social events. Please contact Bettina for more information.
“Tonight was one of the best dance experiences I’ve ever had. I experienced intimacy, depth and fun in coming home to my body, connecting with others and surrendering to the incredible music. Thank you Bettina for holding a sacred space where I can let go, be authentic and free.”
What are the 5Rhythms®?
The 5Rhythms have been developed by Gabrielle Roth over a lifetime of study in dance, theatre and the healing arts. This movement practice creates the opportunity to find freedom of movement, states of heightened awareness, profound healing and the inspiration for living a creative and fulfilling life. Roth’s primary teaching is the following: “If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself.”
This approach offers maps to our innermost being and breaks down the process of how life energy moves. Energy moves in waves, and waves move in patterns. The 5Rhythms – Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness – form the Wave of energy and map how things naturally move and change. During this movement meditation, each rhythm is a different energy field in which we find our own expression and dance and learn a variety of teachings.
The 5Rhythms is a form of ecstatic dance that helps us to free our bodies, open our hearts and empty our minds. With no steps to learn, the practice itself is simple, and it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. All we need to do is show up, tune in and move what is alive in us. There is no right or wrong way to move in this practice. It is about connecting with our unique way of being and moving from that place into expression, release, expansion and integration.

Dancing the 5Rhythms is about waking up to your most essential nature, stretching your intuition and imagination as surely as your body. It’s a formless form, one that expands your range of physical and emotional expression and introduces you to forgotten parts of your self.Gabrielle Roth
What can you expect at your first 5Rhythms® class?
What happens on the dance floor?
The 5Rhythms use movement as spiritual practice. A major tenet of the work is to keep moving through each rhythm. There is no right or wrong way to move. Follow your body’s wisdom, pay attention to its messages. You may dance alone, in partnerships or with the whole group. Be inspired by other dancers around you.
The music that guides us through the 5Rhythms experience is carefully chosen and ranges from world beats to electronic, from classical to blues. It comes together to create a landscape of sound that evokes the deeper teachings of the practice.
